Thanks Mike. I've had fun with it so far.
I took this from Wiki:
The 1992 Paris-Cape Town Rally was the 14th running of the Dakar Rally event with a unique routing. The rally had a 7,722-mile (12,427 km) long route, starting from Paris, France, on 23 December 1991 and finishing at Cape Town, South Africa, on 16 January 1992. The route passed through Libya, Niger, Chad, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Angola, and Namibia.[1] Participants used maritime transport to get from Pointe-Noire (Republic of the Congo) to Lobito (Angola), so they did not cross the territory of Zaire. Hubert Auriol won the car category to go with his two victories in the motorcycle category. Stephane Peterhansel won the motorcycle category for the second year in succession.[1] The fastest truck in common car-truck classification was Francesco Perlini´s Perlini on 16th place.

the Dakar is the highlight of my 'sporting year'
Auriol went on to work for the organisers as a race director......Peterhansel is still racing but in cars.......hes one of the most successful racers ever.......between bikes and cars hes won the Dakar over a dozen times

Looking good Al' those tiny screws are a pain, they were on the Tamiya citroen 2cv, so the suspension actually worked sadly that has now collapsed under the weight and now it sits in the weeds.

Very nice Al, that's proper suspension!
Good job with the windscreen surround, it can be tricky.

I will Shay.
Thanks for the kind words Chris.
The spare wheels and tyres are molded in styrene as a single piece, so I started to paint them in the same manner as military wheels and tyres, which are mostly molded in styrene too. i.e. thin the tyre paint so that it flows up to the rim.
It worked fine on the first rim/tyre but I think the other one mst have been a different mold, as try as I might, the tyre paint kept on flowing on to the rim. I even tried deepening the rim with a scribe but that didn't work either.
So finally, I came up with this 'fix'...... I made covers for them.

Seemed to have missed a few of your builds Al. Apologies, will have a good catch up later. `This is an interesting model, great detailing and sterling work as usual.

Looks good Al, surprised they made a decal for the red panel, they could have had you just paint it. saves masking though.
Great build so far.

Thanks Gary
I would have painted it, if I could've guaranteed getting an exact color match.

With the AMR back in the box, this one is back on the bench. I'll update the build over this weekend once I get my PC up and running again. I hate posting photos on my laptop!!!

Yes!!! my PC is back to full throttle!!!
Apart from the door mirrors, the builing is complete so I have started on the decals.
I screwed up the aligngment on the left side but learned from my mistake on the right side. Also they are very delicate once applied and I've managed to 'chip off' in a few places, which will nee touching up when finished.
