T34/76m 1942 Winter Diorama ('It snowed again last night')
Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:04 pm
I built this little 1/76 scale tank ages ago intending to do it in winter camo but it got shelved.
So in preparation for my other tank dio, I decided to make it into a mini dio.
I made a simple wooden base, 125mm x 90mm and painted it with Tamiya textured soil effect paint so that bare earth shows underneath the tank. The tank itself was pressed into a thick layer of this, to get the tracks 'sunken' a little but also to act as a glue.
I superglued some 'boulders' in place and when they were secure, I liberaly applied more CA and dumped a load of baking powder on top, to fill the gaps. Three coats were needed. This was followed by thinned white glue, over which I dumped a load of baking powder. I repeated this until I had a deepish layer.
Then I added a small pile of logs. (Well the crew are going to need a fire this morning so they can brew up!!!)
I then sprayed the tank, mud track and tops of logs with thinned white glue and spinkled more backing soda. This was immediately removed to simulate 'last nights' light snow.
It's my first attempt at something like this and although not perfect, I'm pleased as to how it came out.
